It starts off a little confusing in the 1960s version of “present day” and then suddenly the Enterprise is flying through a blue sky and being detected on an Air Force base’s radar… and then sling-shotted into a time travel trip with all the uncertainties and paradoxes and past-changing dilemmas we love about such stories. A jet pilot from the 60s is accidentally brought aboard the USS Enterprise where it becomes clear that he can never go back to his own time or his own family… unless the crew can come up with a way to bypass the butterfly effect and fix the mounting problems they trigger just by being trapped in the past. It’s another episode that hits all the right notes, and is full of memorable moments, some funny stuff and lots of great character development. And some classic “Kirk Fu” fight choreography.
