Tony Harste Rising Through the Storm | Spokane News

After tough early losses, Idaho Vandals coach Thomas Ford Jr. keeps spirits high by reminding players that championship teams face setbacks too—citing Montana State’s rocky start last year that led to a title. Wide receiver Tony Harste, a standout with 11 catches for over 200 yards and two TDs, embodies this resilience. His game-winning performance against Cal Poly included a clutch 9-catch, 180-yard effort. Beyond talent, Harste thrives on adaptability, mastering complex offensive schemes—even running decoy routes. A hamstring injury last season reshaped his mindset, pushing him toward a “servant focus” leadership role, where he blocks, mentors, and uplifts younger teammates. He also finds joy in connecting with Moscow’s youth, but remains laser-focused on being the best Vandal one day at a time.
