Toolbox vs. Team Huddles with Jade Green & Kyle Probert

from Team Engineered Podcast

Meetings are vital for team cohesion. Maintain a clear distinction between toolbox talks and team huddles. And be strategic enough to foster connection and motivation. Key point covered in this episode:[00:04:17] What else can we take from elite level football teams or Super Bowl sports teams? By doing HUDDLES! Any teams from the workshop, the office and business teams will greatly benefit. [00:05:12] "Taking the knee" means making that decision to shift into a state, change the environment or the stance. So instead of doing a meeting where people sit, you stand. And that's why you often hear huddles are called stand-ups.[00:08:25] Everyone has a mental construct of a Monday meeting where they've got some PTSD. Reconstructing Mondays can make a massive difference and will allow you to create a better culture and environment. Instead of just a meeting is an effective session between the leaders and the team to do Monday mindset, motivation, and milestone settings.[00:13:09] On implementing feedback loops. Suppose we don't look at Monday about setting the intention and the milestones for the week and paint the picture of success. In that case, we can't do a proper reflection and feedback session on ourselves at the end of the week to know what worked and what didn't work and where we need to coach ourselves.[00:15:07] Toolbox Talks are meetings on safe work practices and worksite risks. They are not necessarily fun, but managers should also ensure that they aren't boring. It should be short, specific and engaging. [00:17:19] The huddles need to be about connection and not just the business. How we open it up to be vulnerable and share where we're really at, but most importantly, to build that camaraderie. [00:22:30] Strategic and intentional. Always ask what is the core outcome that I want out of this session? How do I want the people to think and actually do? What do I want them to feel? And what do I want them to say to each other or themselves? [00:26:25] Team Huddle ideas. Applying the attitude of gratitude, icebreakers and even talks about everyone's latest binge-worthy TV series are all worth the time to be included in your next meeting.__________________________________________________________________________________ABOUT TEAM: ENGINEEREDTeam: Engineered is your go-to podcast for all things team building and business scaling.
