Yo, what's up, and welcome to the Kind of Funny Gamescast for Thursday, March 6th, 2025. I'm your host, Blessing, Adiogay Jr. Joining me is LaCroix, Poppy, Tim, Mo, Boy, Gettys. I have two LaCroix right now.
I had a thought of how many LaCroix could I bring out here until you guys say something. And I like that you got to have it. I like that you got to have it. Well, I don't really have to.
No one says it. It's fine. I feel like if I had three, you'd say something. Three is definitely the limit, yeah.
I was going to bring out six. Definitely would have said something at three, yeah. I wouldn't have looked at you, like, having an arm pulled from LaCroix, being like, I was going to try to sneak up so that you didn't see it. I was going to have a couple under here to keep adding up.
Well, I didn't. Throughout the episode, you have to timestamp when everyone gets added. Also joining us is, of course, the Nitro Rackley, Andy Cortez. Hello, guys.
Andy. Hey. If Kevin Coelho pulled us. We got an everyday carry.
What would you think that meant? A what? An everyday carry. Fair to the background, says a weapon.
I would assume that he has different bags that he uses, but that, like, he has one that's his daily driver. Like, either a knapsack or a fanny pack or a backpack or something like that. That's like. That's pretty good.
That's pretty good. Yeah. Accurate. Yes.
Because somebody on Games Daily asked Kevin if he has an EDC, everyday carry. And, blessed I both assumed he meant a gun. And Kevin was like, oh, yeah, I'm an everyday carry. And it didn't even, like, phase me of the fact that, like, oh, yeah, of course, Kevin's carrying a gun every single day.
Like, that is something that without a second, Kevin would do. It would surprise us, of course. But it wouldn't be out of his carry. Sorry, sorry.
Sorry. I didn't hit anybody. L.O.B. in the chest is, no, he said EDC.
And I would have assumed he meant electronic dance convention, which, yeah, EDC is. Electric daily carry. That's why, in parentheses, they had to specify, like, oh, everyday carry. Uh-huh.
Amazing. Now, my second question would be, we did learn, for the last three years, that Kevin Coelho was coming in to work with a gun, like a concealed carry. I wouldn't be surprised at all. I really wouldn't.
It makes so much sense. That's, like, 1,000% something you do. That's the most honest answer you'll get out of me. It's like, okay, yeah, that makes sense.
If you had, like, if you had two. How many concealed carries? Or are we, like, more like, all right, that's too much. So three LaCroix, two guns.
I'll go with six. I think if you, like, literally, you have, like, six weapons. It makes the John Wick thing of, like, having them on, he's, like, around his weight, his ankle, his ankle, his ankle, his ankle, his ankle, his ankle, his ankle. Yeah, for sure.

We talked about Marvel 1943. Holy cow. Right now, it's the Gamecast. After this is the YouTube premiere of Greg and Tim's entire split fiction playthrough.

For now, let's start with the topic of the show.
We're doing a shit list. Of course, shit list is where I go online. I find a top 10 list. I bring it back to Tim and whoever else is on the panel, and we talk about it and judge it for your amusement.
Now, here's the thing, because there's been a lord to the shit list that we're doing today. A few weeks ago, this is our first time on a shit list. No, wait, really? Wow, we're good experiences, man.
Happy beer. A few weeks ago, Polygon put up a list. It was February 11th, 25th is when they posted this list. That list is called the 25 best Nintendo Switch games.
I saw that, put it on the top of my Slack, went, hey, we should do this as a shit list. Everybody agreed. All right, that's today. Here's the thing, though.
A few days ago, March 2nd, 2025, Rolling Stone had the gall to put out a very similar list titled the 20 best Nintendo Switch games of all time. Oh, shit, it's getting real. So we have two lists here. Yesterday during the meeting, we were talking about this, right?
Okay, we're doing the 25 best Nintendo Switch games shit list. I looked at Tim, I looked at the room, I was like, hey, do we want to pick a list? You know, the Rolling Stone was more recent, but like, you know, I like the idea of Polygon because they're a gaming site. Like, how do we tackle this?
And Tim said, why not just do both? Why not both? And Tim, I love that idea. I love it so much, I also want to elevate it.
What if, for the first time I've ever run a shit list, we did a list versus list? Oh, shit. Are the same games on both lists and one that just has an extra five? Or is there just chaos?
I mean, there's got to be five OLIs. There will be five outside looking ins that will not pop up for sure. So we've got to keep our eyes out for the OLIs. I like that.
All right, so let's get into it, right? The thing that we usually do before we get into the list proper is we talk about what's going to appear on these lists. This is a fun one because I feel like this is such a... Yeah, normally when we talk about best parts of video games, it's like, all right, we have to get real crappy about it.
Normally when we get on the desk and we dance a little bit. I mean, I feel like there's the obvious answers of the Mario Odyssey, Mario Wonder, where Legends of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom. So the question is, does anyone have the balls to put Tears of the Kingdom in number one instead of Breath of the Wild? No, they're all fucking cowards.
They should. They should. That's my question. I think Breath of the Wild comes first, and so that should be the better one.
It's the same argument Nick Starkino makes about Iron Man 1. There will be a... I think the prediction is, like, will one of them have it as number one? I don't think so.
I really... I'm going to think Polygon will have Tears of the number one. And Rolls of the Wild is going to be like Pitchfork. They're going to be like, nah, that's fucking Pikmin 4 or something, you know?
I think Breath of the Wild's number one on both lists. Yeah. It's tough for me to, like, make an argument for either way, because I think the argument for Tears of the Kingdom is that, hey, Threat of the Wild does a little bit more. Right?
Threat of the Wild, but, like, you have more mechanics, you have all the combining of items, you have all this cool shit that you can do with the world. Yeah, I think you have a better story. You have the multi-layered design of the world map. Is that better music?
But it's not only just more. It's, like, the mechanics are far better. I think. Like, they didn't just kind of, hey, let's add what's on the counter.
Like, they added the stuff that I think would have made me equally, if not more, blown away. Like, if you reverse the mechanics in release order, if you have, like, the Tears mechanics and put them in Breath of the Wild, then vice versa, I would probably think that Breath of the Wild is a better video game. Really? Why?
Like, when you think of, like, Breath of the Wild, it's like, and I'm just going to, like, totally go into Nick Carpino's Fast Five, when he's just, like, you know, once you dig your heels in, you know, you say Breath of the Wild is in a few games, it's the worst fucking game ever. No, but, like, you know, Breath of the Wild had the freezing, the little cube that raised up from the water, and, like, that's kind of, like, that was the most kind of inventive of all of them, I would say. No. Come on, you freeze an item and then hit it, and then, like, the item flies.
Okay, that one was sick. Spaces was cool. Yeah. But everything, like, you know, making all the little toys and all the knickknacks and everything, like, it's more than just...
Oh, sorry, sorry, I'm not misunderstanding you. I thought you were saying that if you take the mechanics of Tears and put it in Breath of the Wild, the Breath of the Wild would be better than Tears. I think that's what you're saying. I think if you swap the moveset.
Like, the abilities. Yeah, the main abilities that you get. But you're saying that, like, Breath of the Wild's a better game otherwise? No, I think I may still have the nostalgic factor for Breath of the Wild God of War 20 is, like, so special to me.
But I thought the same thing was going to happen with me with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. And it's like, nah, when I played Tears, I was like, oh, I thought Breath of the Wild was the most special video game I've ever played in my life, and now this is the most special video game I've ever played in my life. The tough thing for me is, like, for me, it is based on the day you asked me. I can kind of go either way with my argument that I'd make, because I think everything we say about Tears of the Kingdom is factual.
And, like, if I'm writing down these arguments on a piece of paper, or writing down, like, the pros and cons of both these games on pieces of paper, I think the Tears of the Recorder, not knowing what was behind this mountain, like, not knowing that there were dragons in the sky, like, not knowing, like, that temperature mattered. Like, there's so much about the unknown factor of playing Breath of the Wild and experiencing that for the first time, versus Tears, where it's like, all right, dude, I know exactly what I'm getting into, but now we're layering on, like, we've improved the story, we've improved the mechanics, we've improved, we've added more music, we've done this, we've done that. On paper, Tears of the Kingdom, better video game. But, like, I don't know, man, Breath of the Wild also is, like, I think there's something powerful about the fact that he gave us that high will.
I think that gives it major points. I don't disagree there, but I will say that the difficulty for Tears of the Kingdom, the difficulty that was already set by themselves, because they came out of Breath of the Wild and it was, again, just this masterpiece, landmark, holy shit, title, and the expectations are set so high, and the bar is set so fucking high, and they were still able to way past exceed it for me. Because it wasn't, like, if I just experienced a story, because the cutscene and all that stuff was like, the music, all of that was just so magical and I couldn't have given less shit about it in Breath of the Wild, it was so special for me in Tears of the Kingdom that I'd be like, yeah, the story was great, but, you know, the magic of exploration wasn't quite like it was in Breath of the Wild. I still felt all of that and more in Tears of the Kingdom.
Like, I think it's like, never has a barbin set higher for me, personally, and never has a barbin exceeded more than Tears of the Kingdom. I also think the exploration is, um, I don't think people give enough credit to the exploration in Tears of the Kingdom, because I think part of the magic, well, yes, it's not your first time there, years have passed, so the magic there is recontextualized and seeing what time has done to these places, and then also adding the cave system, I, like, the amount of, like, getting lost in all of these caves, I do think, and, like, the sky islands, like, going up to the ceiling of a cave bear, like, what, like, what, oh, man. Mergen from the chat said, if you're giving the game today to a newbie, you give Tears of the Kingdom. I think that goes a long way, right?
Like, because you get that sense of exploration, that sense of a crime wonder. I don't know, I think I might give Breath of the Wild to you. So, newbie, like, they've not played any of these, either of these games? I mean, I would say both, right?
But I think I'll give them Breath of the Wild first. I disagree only because I, I still think that it has everything mechanically and gameplay wise that you can want, but I think, aside from the spaces, which is sick as shit, I think everything mechanically in Tears is more fun for me, personally, and it has all the shrines still, and it has, you know, the better, you know, not quite old-school legacy dungeon style stuff, but it's got, I think, better design set-piece areas, and, man, those cutscenes fun. I guess my thing is, I think the experience of Tears is enhanced by playing Breath of the Wild first, right? Like, I, there's something about, it's the bare point of revisiting the same world you've been to that has time passed.
It, I don't know, there's a different allure to it when it is, all right, what's happened to Tarrytown? What's happened to, like, what happened to Kakariko? Like, what is going on in the story now with time passed? I do think that there is an added experience there versus, if I dump into Tears and that was my first time in that world, I don't know, I feel like I'll miss out on something.
Well, I miss out, but if you could only play one. If I could get, like, if I still say Breath of the Wild, yeah. But somebody who played all the old schools of the games and hasn't played since GameCube or whatever, I would give them Tears because when you're hopping into the world of Hyrule and Breath of the Wild, there's still context preceding that that you don't know about. It's still this unknown landscape, and I think the same goes for Tears of the Kingdom.
If anything, going back to Breath of the Wild could be the need for people who played Tears first to be like, oh, this is what the town looked like earlier, because after what, you know, like, I think all of the same exploration and all of the same wonder applies, like, one for one for a newbie. What a game, god damn it. Yeah, we have to get to talk about other games, right? So when we go, I don't know why Fire Emblem Three Houses is the first game that comes to mind.
It was very high quality, and I feel like it was a lot of people's first Fire Emblem. I think Fire Emblem Awakening was definitely the biggest moment the Fire Emblem series had and turned it into one of Nintendo's core franchises. But yeah, Three Houses, I think with the rise in success of the Switch and the timing of that game coming out, I feel like it was right after the initial kind of, you know, we got this up, we got the Mario, and then people were willing to give a franchise a shot for the first time, and I think that really paid off, because Three Houses was great. I think Three Houses will be a top 10.
So shoot from the hit. Yeah. At least one of those. Maybe both.
I'm going to write down three, I guess. The one that I want to shout out is Kirby and Forgotten Land. I want that game in the top 10. I like it.
I like it. I like the bravery. I like it personally for you. I don't think we see it in the top 10 in either of these lists.
Justice for Kirby. I think at least one of these lists will have it in the top 10. I think one of these lists will have it. No.
You think both of them will have it? You think you can make a top 20 Switch game and not have Kirby? I don't think there's a shot both of these are missing it. And if they are missing it, then it's a similar situation to that.
What happened to that one list that didn't have a Mario 3D platformer on their top? Rolling Stone. Shit, yeah. Oh, this is Rolling Stone, too.
I mean, Metroid Dread. Right? It'll be on the list, but I don't think it'll be that high. Here's the thing.
I feel like we can kind of think about it in tiers, right? There's the S tier of these games, which I don't think there's that many S tier Switch games. It would be Mario Odyssey, the two Zeldes, the two Zeldes, the two Zeldes, the two Zeldes, Mario Kart, Mario Kart, Smash Ultimate, Smash Ultimate, Smash Ultimate, Smash Ultimate. Because here's the thing, right?
I can buy the Kirby not making top 10, but we just need a list of 10 games. Because to the point of the tiering, right? I'm like, all right, but what are you putting about Kirby? Obviously, you're putting Mario, the Zeldes.
Can we just mention 3? Yeah, that's a very popular one. Okay, see, now it's remastered. You can put Mario Kart 8 on the list.
I don't know if it makes it. I think that's too poor, Jason. Yeah, I think you'll still think about it as a GameCube thing. For me, I think people, especially because people consider that to be like a remastered remake for Metroid Prime of like how much it enhanced the visuals of that stuff.
Like, I think, if we're putting Mario Kart 8 on the list, I think, or guessing Mario Kart 8, I could see a lot of love for Prime. I think Pikmin 4 is a deadlock for both lists. Oh, Mario Maker 2? Great call.
Mario Maker 2 is great. I said it over a bear talking about Animal Crossing. I think it's probably top 5 on both of these lists. Yeah, Mario Maker 2 over a different culture.
Damn, Animal's list. Oh, fuck, okay, yeah. Do you think they copied it? Like, do you think the Rolling Stone, like, look at the, look at Polygon's list?
Or do you think the person writing Rolling Stone's list saw that Polygon releases early there before was like, goddammit, dude, I was already doing it. Here's the thing, because Adrian Chats has Astro Chain, and I want to shout out Astro Chain. It's going to be this thing for both these lists, but I think it'll be all one. It should be like number 20.
I mean, one of these lists has 25 games on it. Yeah, but when you say top Switch games, they're going to be fake Nintendo. There's not that many. There's not 25 first-party Nintendo games there.
Which Mario Party makes the list? If all of them. Jamboree, I think. Jamboree would be sick, yeah.
If the lists were out. These are both from last few months. What's the consensus on Superstars versus Jamboree? I think Jamboree overall is like higher rated.
Okay. It's so hard for me to tell, because I never grew up playing a whole lot of Mario Party, and so whenever people have really strong opinions on any of the Mario Parties, I'm like, oh, they're all kind of fun to me. It's so hard for me to judge, like, what's a really good Mario Party? I got two to throw at you.
Splatoon. Oh, yeah. Sorry to say Splatoon 3, because there were two Splatoons that came out. I would say...
That's rough. I'm going to put one of them. The question is, which Pokemon does 8 Pokemon make these lists? Is there Pokemon worthy enough?
Will Legends Arceus? Will any of the Let's Go? No, no. People really hate Let's Go.
See, how's it going to say Pokemon Sword and Shield? I feel like that's the one that you can argue with. Hey, this is a new game, it's a new Pokemon game, and also it's not broken. It's like a full working Pokemon game.
My god tells me it's going to be Scarlet and Violet and Legends Arceus. I don't think you can put Scarlet and Violet in this list. I think I'll give it like a 4 out of 5. Listen, I can buy it.
That's a fucking great ass video game. Dude, this game looks like shit. Oh my god, there's a number on. In hindsight, I don't know, it's tough for an outlet to give Scarlet and Violet praise.
In hindsight. But there's also a lot of games on the list anyway. Yeah, we haven't talked about new stuff all night. I'm going to see too much of it.
Yeah, I guess I'm wondering, what are the multi-platform options? Maybe we start the list and we read the first paragraph, it's like, no multi-platform, no Switch exclusive. I kind of feel like we're not going to see... I feel like the intent of these lists is going to be more exclusive.
I mean, let's see. I'm going to put Towerfall on there. I'll say Celeste. At some point we've got to do our top 25 games, figure out what our criteria is, because I feel like the conversation would be around, obviously the first party stuff, but a correct list for top 25 Switch games I think should have Celeste on there.
If you're making a correct list, it's got to have Celeste. What about LEGO Horizon and Hollow Knight, obviously. Yeah, Hollow Knight, obviously. Those are huge indies that a lot of people associate with the Switch.
Some people say Hades. That's the thing is, I think there's the eras of the Switch kind of shift. Because that early era, the first two to three years of the Switch, I think the Switch was looked at as the indie platform. Before it just became slop.
Before all of the indie slop of, here's this $1 clicker or whatever. Hades came out day and day on the Switch, right? I think it was Switch and PC, but the only two platforms. Correct me, Chad, if I'm wrong about that.
Wait, I think you're right. It was cross-profession or some shit like that. Yeah, and I remember booting up, because I didn't want to play on the Epic Games Store, because that's when it was exclusive to Epic at the time or whatever, and I booted up a stream and I was like, wow, this looks bad on Switch. Yeah, well when I had it up on my monitor, I was like, man, the font, everything is just so low-res.
It was 1080, you know? It was doing its best to be 1080, and then I booted up the higher quality version on PC. I was like, oh, thank God. Yeah, it launched the Switch.
It was console exclusive to Switch for like a year. Yeah, but the thing with Hades that goes back to what I was saying is that, I think Hades came out after that turning point of indies. You know what I mean? It was like that rush, but then, at some point, it didn't feel like Switch was the indie platform anymore.
Much like playing on PC or anything else. I totally, because for a while there it was the indie machine for me, where it's like that's where I'm going to replay Hyper-Life Goater for the 90th time, and you know, stuff like that. I mean, if you want to throw up to somebody in the chat to Starry Valley, I also think, I don't know if Dead Cells is going to get the look, but I'll put Dead Cells in conversation of Switch indies. Tetris 99.
I like that. He's cooking. What about Mario 33? Zero, 239, whatever the number was, belongs on the list, but I don't think they'll put it there.
Any other Mario sports games? Who was it? Was it Bowser Jr. who was broken as fuck?
Yeah, man, I found the meta immediately. I was dominating every game. I can't ask that at that time. This is what I'll say, I'll be mad.
Nice to see Starry on this list. Somebody tells me that Starry has a good chance of showing up. I don't disagree. I think God tells me this list is going to be a lot more dislike first party than this.
I hope, I hope. Because it's also a very popular Dark Souls remastered machine. A lot of people love playing Dark Souls remastered on the Switch because it's not the Prepare to Die edition, so it has a different kind of look to it. It's more akin to the older OG version of Dark Souls.
I hope it's a lot more first party. I hope it's a whole other party. Are you ready to jump in? Oh shit, arms?
Oh, what about Splatoon? We said Splatoon 2. I think Splatoon 3. The Splatoon 2 server is still up.
How does that work? Can I play Splatoon 2 right now? I don't know. But I feel like the people were more hot on Splatoon 2 than Splatoon 3 were not getting around.
Here's the thing. I say Splatoon 3 because I wonder, in writing this list, are you writing this list to suggest things to people? Hey, here are the top 25 Switch games that you can play right now. Are we starting with Polygon?
Are we starting with Polygon? Yeah, we're going to start with Polygon. Polygon has the top 25 games. Ooh, Mario Rabbids, good call.
Oh, that's a good one too. I'll read the opening pair wrap to set the tone. Looking for the best games on Nintendo Switch? What follows is a living list of the 25 Switch games we recommend everyone play or watch.
In case you're new to the system or just looking for something new to play. Play or watch. Interesting. Play or watch.
Yeah, that's interesting that they specifically call that out. The Switch has been around almost 8 years, has sold more than 150 million units. I still have a Google search on my computer's everyday carry. In both the vast software library encompassing first party Nintendo classics, major games from big publishers, and a bewildering array of indie and digital titles.
We're here to guide you through it. You'll find Mario and Zelly here, of course, plus many other Nintendo games like all Nintendo consoles. The Switch has an incredibly high proportion of must-play exclusives you can't get anywhere else. But we've tried to include a few more left field picks as well.
Okay, let's see how left we got. In the go on to the Switch, also has a library of retro games available as part of Switch Online, including many all-time Nintendo classics. We've listed our picks from this collection separately. Good.
So those aren't in this. Alright, let's hop into it. At number 25. Oh, is this not...
It's not ranked. It's not ranked. It's a shit list. Hey, at the very least we still have our Rolling Stone list.
We can go through this one real quick to see what they say, I guess. So going through it, they start off with Animal Crossing New Horizons. Damn, it's $3 off. Hollow Knight.
Kirby and Forgotten Land. Yeah! You got Zelda Link 2. Oh shit!
Nice, that's a good one. You have Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Up next we have Luigi's Mansion 3. God, the Switch kicks ass out.
That's a really good machine. After that you got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They don't need a new one. Metroid Dread.
Look at that suit. I think that's where art has peeped with Dread. You have Metroid Prime remastered. We should pause here, right?
I think the expectations change when we learn that it's not right. It's also when they list where you can buy the games after. But also, really quick. This is going in alphabetical order.
The one big surprise here. There's no Breath of the Wild down here. Of the previous game, literally. Players can explore the sky, region, peppered, or floating islands.
The very terrain of the world's surface and the ominous underground world of the depths. Sears of the Kingdom as a technical marvel will likely be an easy recommendation for me to give. For years to come, if you're new to adventure games on the scale of this adventure, or if the scale of this adventure don't see, don't let that scare you. It's well worth the leap.
Man, it not being a ranked list kind of absolves it. Of not having Breath of the Wild in there a little bit. I can't take it as seriously. That makes sense.
They don't put ratings, they don't put scores on their reviews either. They do like to recommend it, yeah. I don't like to not be ranked. They have too much self-respect.
It's probably your video game website. Put some rankings to this, bitch. You know what I mean? We're right, sorry.
Mystery Prime Remastered. They just love ranked. You got Octopath Traveler 2 after that. Look at the screenshot.
Oh, dude, I thought this was the shark game that Mike loved. Same. Oh, you play as the shark? Man Eater, yeah.
Pikmin 4. After that you got Pokemon Sword. Man, I really fucked up not playing Pikmin 4. It was just a bad time for me.
Too many games out, but I love Pikmin. Man Eater? No, Man Eater. I want to point out, Pokemon Sword and Shield is the only Pokemon game on the list.
Oh, nice. We then got Splatoon 3. Tetris 99. Hell yeah.
Unpacking. Zero Blade Chronicles 3. And that is what ends the list. I'm a little let down with the no ranking, so.
I like that they made statements here. No putting Breath of the Wild. And obviously they're kind of the top here, right, of like, here are the games you should pick up now. If you're trying to be relevant or if you're trying to play stuff right now.
I like that they included, obviously, the big ones. But then took a moment to be like, hey, fucking play Dredge or what was the... Unpacking. Yeah, like unpacking and stuff.
I think that's cool. Here's the thing. From the editorial perspective, I actually do appreciate this. Just for what Bear's talking about there.
Hey, this is a positive list. Let's give highlights to the best of the best. If somebody's picking up a Switch right now, what are the games that I would love for them to play? You should play Mario Odyssey.
You should play Tears of the Kingdom, right? They're on your side of like, hey, if I'm telling somebody to pick up a Switch and they can play one Zelda, just play Tears of the Kingdom. Play Dredge. Play unpacking, you know?
Play these cool games. But from my fucking consumer perspective, nah, I'm in the cowards. I'm with the Yang family. Let's roll with the stones, man.
Let's see what good stuff they have for us. Listen, we're gonna roll with the stones right after we roll some ads. Bear rollin'. This episode is brought to you by Monster Hunter Now.

Sign up for free at rbctraininground.ca. Chat, do you have people watching and listening? During the ad break, there was a crazy revelation that just happened. Jon Favreau was in charge of making a shared Star Wars universe by Disney.
And now he'll do the same for Mickey Mouse. Starting with a big budget Oswald and Lucky Rabbit animation slash live action hybrid show over Disney Plus. Then from there, Epic Mickey, Kingdom Hearts, Magic Kingdom and more. Wait, Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts.
Where are you getting this right? Yes, this is from My Guy to Shine Hello, who's a popular entertainment leaker. Okay. So we're getting a Kingdom Hearts.
Something. Something. That's kind of crazy. This is kind of crazy, y'all.
This is kind of crazy. I'm Andy. Is he not still doing Star Wars stuff, though? I'm sure he'll do that.
I think it's him and Filoni doing the Mandalorian and Drogue movie. Yeah. Exactly. Shared universe?
What is a Mickey Mouse shared universe? It's just a universe. There's nothing shared about that. But, I mean, Ring of Kingdom Hearts kind of does turn into a shared universe a little bit if I'm getting fucking fancy.
I need proper reporting on this. I'm not seeing this anywhere. This is pre-official. Andy, you hear the news?
Well, it's not news yet, but it's leaked. John Favreau. John Favreau is going to be in charge of a Mickey Mouse shared universe, including Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts. Oh.
Yeah. Let's see how this goes. I'm excited. Film.
What's going on with that one Fortnite Disney crossover thing? I forgot how to put Jack in it. What even is it? You're going to have the Disney world.
You're going to have the Marvel world. You're going to have the ESPN world. You're going to have the ESPN world. What's the bald dude?
Charles Barkley. Hang out with Charles Barkley. It'll happen. Let me tell you something, Ernie.
That's my Charles Barkley. Is that how it sounds? Oh, yeah. Let me tell you something, Ernie.
Yeah, that's how it is, yeah. We got some weird chats in here real quick. The Uncharted Wolf writes in and says, Just wanted to shout out Pikmin 4, my favorite entry in one of my favorite franchises. The bald dude equals Charles Barkley.
He's very bald. He's super bald, yeah. He's super duper bald. He's super duper bald.
Ball fraud. This is a crazy insult. How is he going to fuck him up with that? You know what they used to call him his nickname?
What's that? The round, bound, or rebound. Wow. Because he was always the shortest amongst the big men.
The big man, you know, the centers in the NBA are like 6'11", 7'1", whatever. He was like, I don't know, I think he's like 6'7", or something like that. He's just always been, his ass is like just, he's got a fat ass. Wow.
Yeah, he just boxes people out, uses his body, rather than a rebound. Always the shortest, always getting most rebounds. Hall of Famer. Everyone to ring.
Chrono Regretson says, hey guys, what's your favorite Switch Gen memory? Mine will always be the Mario movie reaction, and the Sora reaction. I watched your guys' reactions to those so many times, and the Xenoblade series. Real talk, I rewatched those reactions so often as well.
Like, being blessed, losing her minds to Sora is like one of my favorite kind of funny moments. But the Mario casting reveal, they were one by one. They just kept getting more and more insane. Like, Charlie Day has Luigi, and you're like, what?
Jack Black has Bowser. Amazing stuff, God. I also enjoy the early Pokemon presents streams that we would do from home, where we would actually get up at 6 in the morning, because we would just be fucking loopy. I'm a Smash Bros.
so much. Like, when we're in Smash Bros. season, and any trailer could be a Smash Bros. trailer, you know, if we start off a Persona trailer, all of a sudden, Jokers and Smash, just like, what the fuck is happening?
You see that little icons spinning around? Yeah. And one more from Boganite7, who says, I love all you guys do. Happy birthday.
Happy birthday, Boganite. We're gonna hop into the Rolling Stone list. If there's anything missing from the list, let us know, we'll talk about it. But, now, we get into the main event.
It sucks, because I pitted this as list versus list. Yeah, I got a loser. But, like, here's the thing. If Rolling Stone, because what I'm saying about the Polygon list is that, for what they did, it is a good list.
It's a great list, honestly. Can't even be mad about it. I can't even be mad about it. It is a thumbs up.
I will say it is a shit, despite it not being ranked. But, as long as Rolling Stone gets it right, they're gonna win this. I think, let's let go of this list versus listing, right? Because, like, they're ultimately trying to accomplish two very different things, so I think it's hard to actually put them against each other.
That's fair. I think back at the Polygon thing as a nice little appetizer. And then, let's actually, let's just think about Rolling Stone. What if Rolling Stone isn't ranked?
What if Rolling Stone is, like, fucking crazy? Oh, my God. I would, like, double the best Switch list. Like, if there's five games you should buy.
And they have, like, fucking Madden. For the record, we've done so many shit lists. It's the first time I've done shit lists where it's not ranked. I have looked ahead at it is ranked.
Just so you don't have to, you know, be devastated when we get there. Let's get in, dude. Rolling Stone, these are the best 20 Nintendo Switch games of all time. Starting, actually, before you start it, let me read the blurb.
It's been eight long years. Jesus Christ. It's been eight long years since Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. It's just the fact that writers love doing the same thing.
You know what I mean? Get unique. It started off being like, hey, Reggie Pismay, swear up. Say something new.
The gaming landscape, not to mention the world itself, is a very different place. Released mid-generation while its competitors like the PS4 and Xbox One were midway through their cycle, it initially felt like a footnote. Why was Nintendo releasing a handheld device in a high-definition era where there's a smartphone in everyone's pocket? Didn't its particular brand of gaming seem like a thing of the past?
And it could have flopped, spelling the end of Nintendo. After the disastrous launch of its predecessor to the Wii U, a device whose intention was as muddied as its name, many were critical about the prospect of a Nintendo console. Even if it sold well, how did the company that was once led the pack as a trailblazer fit into the then ecosystem. Even after the amount of money they made with the original Wii, it seemed like their best days were behind them.
Actually, they're kind of in their bag right here. If all feels quaint now, looking back over the course of one of the longest console generations ever and record-breaking sales, it was almost foolish to think that it couldn't be done. I'm going to skip forward because I want to see where they start talking about. Shit.
With that, Rolling Stone is ranking the best games for the Nintendo Switch. And while there's an embarrassment of riches to choose from, we've opted to stick solely to games that were exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch, meaning no cross-platform releases like Fortnite or indie games. Wow. That also found their footing on PC.
There's also almost no re-release, remakes, or remasters because while everyone loves an older game, the true test of console clout is what new things it brings to the table. Roger. So no Mario Kart. Yeah, I guess that means no Breath of the Wild.
Smash Brothers is debatable. What do you mean no Breath of the Wild? Breath of the Wild launched on Wii U? I think they mean just like re-release, right?
It says, and while there's an embarrassment of riches to choose from, we've opted to stick solely to games that were exclusively available for the Nintendo Switch. I don't think I got that wrong. The way they worded it there is weird because then they give examples like cross-platform, but I don't know. The worded that way is weird.
The Wii was only regionally available in the Midwest. Breath of the Wild, you get a hall pass. No, no. Who played that game on Wii U?
Who played any game on Wii U, Blessing? Yeah, but like all the other examples are re-releases, like are remasters. Breath of the Wild was like the one game that was a cross-launched. It launched on the Switch.
It did. Now I'm arguing for it, but it's not exclusive to Switch. It'll be on the list. They're going to get it wrong.
Give it the hall pass, that's what I'm saying. All right, let's hop into it. At number 20, Luigi's Mansion 3. Makes sense.
Solid. Lower than I would expect, honestly. Definitely lower. I thought this would have been a top, maybe 13er.
Well, clearly 13 is going to be Super Mario Maker 2. Ah, correct. I mean, what would be a point? Glad you remember that.
If not Luigi's Mansion 3, what would be a number 20? Well, I just feel like when everybody talks about Luigi's Mansion 3, they just say like, this is the best one of all of them, and now I'm just wondering how the hell do they fill in the rest of this list with games that aren't like cross-platform, you know? My thing is, this is the best of all of them. We say that about everything on the Switch.
That is true. But I don't know if there's 19 other examples that I'm going to agree with or better than Luigi's Mansion 3. But we'll see. I like saying that, I like saying that.
All right. That's the bar you have to cross over. At number 19, you got Pokemon Legend of Arceus. All right.
We'll get it. Are we going to be the final Pokemon list? I don't think so. That's fucking crazy.
I think it has to. What? Pokemon Sword then? I think it's going to be Scarlet and Violet.
It can't be Scarlet and Violet. It can't be Scarlet and Violet. Because here's the thing, if I make the list, yeah, I'm putting Scarlet and Violet on there. But Rolling Stone can't.
You know, Rolling Stone is not me, the individual. Yeah. If I make the argument of Sword and Shield versus Scarlet and Violet, listen, I have more fun than Scarlet and Violet. I enjoy it there.
In fact, I don't even argue, better game than Sword and Shield. But the blemishes are so apparent and so like, ah, you know what I mean? Yeah. It's the one that caused everybody to go, what are we doing?
Yeah. Because games always look subpar, obviously, lower power machine. You expect that. But this was the one that was like the most egregious of all of them.
Can I ask you guys a question? Do you like SquarePiGuy's more than Domino's? Yes. Yeah.
I also like SquarePiGuy's more than Domino's. The reason I ask, right, is if I give you two plates, one of them was the Domino's pizza and the other was SquarePiGuy's. But I fucking mushed up the SquarePiGuy's pizza. Fucking like, I mix that shit up.
I fucking like, you know, the messy ass SquarePiGuy's pizza. I fucking... You put the pineapple on it. Maybe I didn't go that far.
I didn't go that far. I give you a messy ass plate of SquarePiGuy's and I fucking mushed that shit up. SquarePiGuy's, all the ingredients are still there. Yeah, but I'm taking the Domino's.
I'm still eating SquarePiGuy's. That's what Scarlet and Violet is. Scarlet and Violet is SquarePiGuy's and it's all fucking mushed up. Yeah.
You left it in your trunk. You left it in your trunk. Where it's like, all right, SquarePiGuy's is better, but like... It's a lesser product, but it's more consistently good.
