Top Christmas Movies & Why The Polar Express Might Be the Gospel in Pajamas

This week on The Pulpit & Porch, Tony and Robert do something a little different… and a whole lot of fun. We’re talking Christmas movies, the ones we grew up on, the ones we quote all year long, and the ones that somehow manage to preach a better sermon than half the stuff we’ve heard on Sunday mornings. The guys reveal their official Top 10 Christmas Movies of All Time (and yes, we’re sure you’ll disagree with at least three of them), and then we take a deep dive into The Polar Express, a film that just might be one of the clearest Gospel stories Hollywood has ever produced. From the Boy Who Doubts, to the Conductor calling people onto the train, to Santa as a picture of the Father, and the Hobo as the Holy Spirit guiding, convicting, and nudging… there’s a lot more going on beneath those train tracks than meets the eye. We talk faith, imagination, wonder, belief, Christmas nostalgia, and what these stories can teach us about the season we’re actually celebrating. So grab a mug of cocoa, put on your comfiest Christmas socks, and come join us on the front porch.
