We all need to escape sometimes, but us Californians need not look far. In under 2 hours, we can be transported to another world. A different biome, filled with new sights, sounds (except in rentals), smells, and tastes. From the suburbs to the deserts, to the Channel Islands, this state is our playground. The heat of Palm Springs and the breeze of Catalina Island enshrouded us this weekend. Well needed respites from our busy lives at home. Escape was just a quick ride away by land or by sea.
