TORCH TALK DAY 8: KATIE NAGEOTTE TAKES POLE VAULT GOLD, US MEN STILL STRUGGLING FOR A WIN, COLE HOCKER LOOKS STRONG + KYLE HAS A STORY

from The CITIUS MAG Podcast | A Running + Track and Field Show · host CITIUS MAG

Chris, Kyle and Dana recap Day 7 of track and field at the Olympics which was highlighted by Katie Nageotte's gold medal in the women's pole vault, where she became just the third woman to win gold in the event at the Games. This was a true moment of redemption as she missed the 2016 Olympics, switched coaches and took a leap of faith to continue within the sport. She gets the Magical Performance of the Day honors.  The men's 400 meter final was not as delightful for U.S. fans as Michael Cherry ran a personal best for fourth place and Michael Norman took fifth but Team USA was shut out of the medals for just the third time in history. We beg the question: Is the United States (particularly the men) having a bad Olympics and what's the possible cause.  Also discussed in this episode: – If you're Damian Warner and you finally win gold in the decathlon after three Olympic cycles, do you keep going? – We still need a healthy and full-on KJT vs. Thiam heptathlon rivalry – Cole Hocker looked really good in the men's semifinals of the 1,500 meters; Reigning Olympic champion Matthew Centrowitz gets eliminated – Gutsiest performance of the day: Nick Willis runs his fastest time in four years in the semifinals of his fifth Olympics at 38 years old – A brief women's marathon preview + Much More TUNE IN AND LISTEN TO TORCH TALK WITH CHRIS, KYLE AND DANA. Our daily podcast covering the Olympics is presented by Hayward Magic.
