Toreros' Thrilling Comeback Falls Short vs. Oregon State

USD Mens Basketball Falls in Overtime to Oregon State: A Thrilling Comeback and Program Records The University of San Diego mens basketball team showcased their resilience against Oregon State, mounting a remarkable comeback in the final minutes of regulation. Despite trailing by eight points with less than forty seconds left, the Toreros drained four consecutive three-pointers to force overtime, setting new program records with eighteen makes and forty-three attempts from beyond the arc. Throughout the game, both teams exchanged leads sixteen times, with USD using their eighteenth different starting lineup of the season. The Toreros shot well overall at forty-four percent, but Oregon State dominated the boards by ten and attempted nineteen more free throws. Key performers for USD included graduate guard Toneari Lane, who scored a career-high twenty-four points on five threes, and Juanse Gorosito, who added seventeen. Other players like Assane Diop, Vuk Boskovic, and freshman Gavin Ripp contributed with strong defense and career marks in assists and steals. However, in overtime, USD went cold, missing all seven three-point tries and scoring just four points total as the Beavers pulled away. The loss echoes their January matchup where Oregon State staged a similar late comeback to win in overtime on USDs home court. The Toreros will conclude the regular season Saturday at one p.m. against Portland, streaming on ESPN Plus, aiming to carry that shooting fire into the finale.
