Arredondo, and the co-founder of IDEA Public Schools, Tom Torkelson were featured in a webinar hosted recently by the Rio Grande Valley Partnership.RGVP President and CEO Sergio Contreras wanted to know how school districts are faring during the coronavirus pandemic. He was particularly intersected in how students are being reached with all public and charter schools closed because of the COVID-19 crisis.One of the questions asked concerned the digital divide, which has been identified as a major problem in the Rio Grande Valley. Tens of thousands of students do not have access to the Internet at home and the fear is many will not be able to complete their homework assignments as easily as those that have good WiFi.Torkelson’s appearance on the webinar came the same day it was announced be would be resigning as CEO of IDEA.
