TOTLB 511 Cloverfield
from Thinking Outside The Long Box · host Juan and Gabe
It's time to go back to the year 2008 for today's pop culture classic pick! This pick came in from one of our awesome patreon supporters! We are of course talking about the cult classic film, Cloverfield! "As a group of New Yorkers (Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, Odette Yustman) enjoy a going-away party, little do they know that they will soon face the most terrifying night of their lives. A creature the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Using a handheld video camera, the friends record their struggle to survive as New York crumbles around them." Cloverfield was super polarizing when it originally came out! It was controversial for how it was shot, and there were many stories of people coming out of theaters while throwing up. This of course came from the new camera angle that, though maybe not invented by the Cloverfield team, was definitely made much more popular. If somehow you've made it these sixteen years without seeing this movie, you're doing yourself a disservice, and you need to go check it out now!
