Touch A Bubble With A Feather?! Won't It Pop.

from Viral Mindfulness the Podcast · host Alexander Smith | Mindfulness Teacher

Pema Chödrön suggests we might learn to let our thoughts “come and go as if touching a bubble with a feather?” How is this possible? Doesn’t the bubble pop? To touch my thoughts and feelings in this attitude, without popping them, requires precision and care. This metaphor feels like a riddle and paradox. It’s part of my deep spiritual and meditative practice and I want to share it with you in this episode. I’ll bring in Adyashanti’s words to unpack this practice as it relates with grief, loss, death, and… anxiety. “When you just sit (meditate) and you’re not manipulating then you actually start to see things you need to see and experience the things you need to experience. Old experiences may arise that have been waiting there for thirty years just to be experienced, not to be figured out necessarily, or analyzed, but just to be experienced without going unconscious (Adyashanti).” Questions or inquires: [email protected]
