Touching The White (disquiet0740)

Synths, effects Process notes - It started as an idea of not using straight chords but rather have the notes play at different times and sort of create this elastic space where chord changes are up to the listener to feel. It struck me that when I arrange for two melodic instruments, I sometimes make them only use exclusive notes of the harmony & I often drop in arpeggios too. I like a good Farfisa blast or a Teisco Del Ray gronk, but I often think that such harmonic richness is for special times and the question of "density?" should be answered, "less." So then, asking for polychords would be a pretty wild way to test that approach to density. Then I thought, well, I'm going to use Live and my favorite generative things here. Then...let's skew the patterns a little - one track with 6 steps, one with 7 and the next with 8, then also using different time sigs on each and on and on and on. After this, I realized I didn't like the speed for too long and I slowed it down from 98 to like 30 and found 61 in the middle. I dug into a few devices I haven't tried and came out with two stereo plucks and a bass that has its own thing going on that ends when it ends.
