Towards Thy Waiting Mouth

Pain of My Own Devising is Dan Surman's most psychologically complex record — 15 tracks mapping the full architecture of obsessive love, from the first invitation to the final reckoning. Gothic chamber pop, funky rock, dreamy atmospherics and blues-soaked ballads move through mythology, jealousy, surrender and hard-won grace. Surman doesn't romanticize the spiral — he documents it with devastating precision. The title arrives last, as it should: an admission, not an excuse.
