TPM Episode 434: Klaus Obermeyer, Inventor, Entrepreneur, Legend
from The Powell Movement · host Mike Powell
Klaus Obermeyer has had a bigger impact on skiing than any man alive, and when he wasn't innovating the sport, he was in Aspen or traveling the world to ski. He was often found surrounded by a harem of beautiful women. Klaus's incredible story started 105 years ago in Hitler's Germany where he was shot by Nazis trying to escape on his skis. From there, he came to America with nothing and eventually became one of the biggest business moguls in skiing. In part 1 of the pod-cast, we talk about making his skis, life in Nazi Germany, moving to the US with $10, Sun Valley, Warren Miller, and much more. This is mandatory listening with a wise man who's lived more than almost anyone.
