from The Periodic Table of Awesome Podcast · host The Periodic Table of Awesome Podcast

X-Men ’97 Season 2 Since first blasting onto TV screens in 1992, the X-Men animated universe has been teaching us that being a mutant is hard, saving the world is harder, and finding a quiet weekend is apparently impossible. Fast-forward to 2026, and the beloved revival X-Men ’97 has continued the adventure for Season 2. This season sees the X-Men scattered across different eras as they attempt to find their way home while new threats emerge back in the 1990s. Dion, Jill and Quinny dive headfirst into X-Men ’97’s nostalgia mining mastery, featuring the voices of Ross Marquand, Jennifer Hale, Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, and more. Is it a heroic return to form? Or is this a timeline worthy of Professor X’s headache? As if that wasn’t enough, we chat about the biggest announcements from San Diego Comic-Con 2026, including Marvel‘s latest reveals, the ongoing future of DC, and all the nerdy goodness emerging from Hall H. The episode also takes a moment to remember Bill Oddie, the beloved comedian, wildlife presenter, conservationist, and star of The Goodies, who sadly passed away at the age of 85. For many of us, he was as much a part of our television upbringing as Saturday morning cartoons and his passing is a huge loss to all Gen X (and adjacent) kids. So grab your yellow spandex, dust off your Cerebro helmet, and join Dion, Quinny, and Jill as they explore mutants, conventions, comedy legends, and whatever other items escaped from the Danger Room. Official Synopsis (Marvel): X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence. https://youtu.be/T39s6fvYpsI A thank you to all you brotherhood (or sisterhood!) of mutants crew and X-people who join in on the Twitch stream, each Tuesday night at 7:30pm AEST, Plus a special thank you to those Mutants whose only super power is their generosity, and have donated their danger room pay for this show.
