Trade war with Canada — what does it mean for Michigan?

from WWJ: On-Demand

The back and forth between the U.S. and Canada over tariffs is heating up again with President Trump pledging to raise tariffs on all cars, trucks, auto parts and steel to 50% on January 1. This current rate is 25%, but is applied only to non-US content. The latest threat comes after negotiations broke down Friday and 50% tariffs on many Canadian imports kicked in on Saturday. Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Monday that former President Ronald Reagan would be “throwing up” over Trump’s trade policies and threatened to cut off electricity and critical minerals to the United States if the Canada-U.S. trade fight worsens. So, what does this mean for business here in Michigan?
