It's not advantageous or capital efficient to own stock. With options trading (writing options), you have better leverage and a wider safety net. However, with options, people get in trouble by selling too many contracts. You can get paid to own Amazon at a 20% discount from its current price. Also, options allow you to control more stock with a smaller account. Overall, I do think that trading stocks and using covered calls is a decent way to earn ~10% a year with relatively low volatility.
