Tradition: Good Friday or Good Wednesday?

from You're Entitled to Our Opinion

Your birthday isn't the same day every year. That's because you don't actually celebrate your birth day but your birth date. There's a big difference. We celebrate Resurrection Day on the same day each year, adjusting for spring equinox but not the same date. However, there's another issue with what we call Holy Week. Three days in the tomb is hard to cipher if Jesus died on Good Friday and rose on Resurrection Sunday. Many have tried to explain the scripture verse where Jesus said He would be in the tomb three days, as Jonah was in the Great Fish. This week's discussion shows us that there's a difference between tradition and scriptural accuracy. And the point isn't to prove tradition wrong as much as explain what the Bible states and why there's a difference between the two.If we're going to present the Word as God's infallible truth, then we need to set the record straight, even if we don't mess with tradition.
