Traffic Safety Thursday: Enforcement

from The Valley Today · host Janet Michael

We were live in the studio for today's Traffic Safety Thursday with Lt. Warren Gosnell from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. Our topic was enforcement. Lt. Gosnell explained the two priorities for enforcement: safety & compliance. Enforcement typically falls into three categories: proactive, reactive, and preventative. He gave examples of all three and talked about how checkpoints fit into their enforcement efforts. He also gave us numbers for stops and infractions at recent checkpoints. He reminded us that traffic stops are NOT a revenue generator for the sheriff's office and explained the difference between transparency & recognition.
