Tragedy at Bandar Utama: The Stabbing of Ye Xin Xuan

On October 14, 2025, 16-year-old student Ye Xin Xuan was fatally stabbed approximately 200 times in a school restroom at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) by a 14-year-old male student who reportedly had no prior relationship with her. The suspect was found carrying multiple weapons and a handwritten manifesto detailing anti-social ideologies, an obsession with infamous mass shooters, and a distorted perception of others as "NPCs" in a simulated world. This tragedy triggered extensive national school reforms in Malaysia, including the installation of metal detectors, increased CCTV surveillance, and the recruitment of over a thousand new teachers and counselors to address student mental health and safety.
