Tragedy at Five Below Store

A Five Below store on North Rainbow Boulevard became the site of a horrific shooting Wednesday evening, leaving 31-year-old employee Brandan Lucas dead. Police say a suspect entered the store seeking Lucas, escalated into a confrontation, then opened fire before fleeing. The store remains closed as investigators probe the case, leaving a community shaken — especially given the store’s reputation as a family-friendly destination. Neighbors voiced grief and fear, lamenting the breakdown of communication that led to violence. Lucas’s family insists he was killed, not defending himself, and believes he was on top of the shooter when shot. The Las Vegas Metro Police are still searching for the suspect. Five Below issued a statement pledging safety and support for staff, vowing to reopen only when appropriate and ensuring their team is fully supported.
