TRAILER: Summer Series

from The Culture Of It All · host Melanie Knights

Our Summer Series Starts May 28th!There are many negative anti-fat stereotypes associated with the summer; from sweat, and thigh chafe to wearing weather appropriate clothing or having skin showing…I am a cold weather person to my soul, and whilst I’m dreaming of pumpkins, cosy socks and apple cider in June – I cannot control the weather. The summer isn’t going anywhere, and it’s probably going to get hotter. So whilst I reserve the right to be vocal about my discomfort when it’s as hot as satan's asshole, I REFUSE to feel ashamed for being a hot, sweaty fat person this summer…  I decided I’m going to take back the summer. Reclaim it. And even if I don’t enjoy it, I want to make it as comfortable as possible for me, and for you too.I know firsthand how uncomfortable it is during hot weather in a larger body, not just the physical discomfort, the mental discomfort too. Over the past year I have been testing out products, and mentally preparing myself for summer 2024. Personal hygiene, self care and unsexy products are rarely discussed in relation to larger bodies, so over the next 3 months I’ll be sharing it all with you from my body acceptance and self advocacy journey to my favourite products and routines. So are you ready to challenge the Culture Of It All this summer? Let’s do this!Thank you for listening to The Culture Of It All! this podcast is a reader-supported publication.
