Let me give you situation that you might find relatable. You're reading something in the paper, on the web or while doom-scrolling through social media. You come across something and the first thing that comes out of your mouth is What's the Hype? My name is Ravdeep Anand, and I spend a lot of my time perfunctorily reading about all kinds of things. But due to today’s ‘content’ overload and the unnecessary hype around things, it becomes difficult to cut out the noise and get to the bottom of what is happening around us. That's where this podcast comes in. Acting as a supplement to our newsletter, What's The Hype? by Perfunktory aims to break down trending subjects as perfunctorily as possible. But what does Perfunctory mean? It means an action that is carried out without real interest, feeling, or effort. That's what this is supposed to be, an effortless, no agenda, playground where we discuss everything from music to gaming, technology, culture and my favourite, The Metaverse. I will also be joined in these conversations by some of the folks who already work in these fields, sharing their experiences and takeaways.
