Training to be Still - Audio

Big Idea - How do we take back control of our lives in a world so full of noise and distractions? We have made it possible to communicate any time, anywhere, with anyone in the world, and the world can now find and communicate with us - anytime and anywhere! This constant barrage of information, communication, and availability means that we have the potential to live at a level of distraction and chaos that the world has never known. How are we dealing with this new state of existence and what are the effects on how we relate to God and how we hear His voice and follow Him? We cannot be successful in life, and we will not grow in Christ if we live in a constant state of distraction. We must train ourselves to silence the noise and to discipline ourselves to be still before God in order to hear His voice, know His heart, and live in communication with Him above all the chaos around us. This is vital because we are to be a people who are to be transformed by God's power and grace. We are invited to know the depths of God when but we are growing increasing shallow in our thinking. More and more we are unable to focus our mind or attention in any meaningful way on anything truly significant or important. Our only hope is to train ourselves in the age old spiritual disciplines that Jesus Himself practiced during His life on earth.
