Praning your mind for more, that is what we are discussing in today's podcast episode, which we are also live streaming on Instagram. And the reason for that is because this is a concept that really does take a lot. This concept is something that we overlook, and it's so often overshadowed with just the stuff, the stuff that we see on social media.
And when I say stuff, what I mean by that is, the things that we think that we should be thinking about, the things that come up, for example, is almost like hot topics of conversation, you know, sub-sabotage, procrastination, fear, lack mentality, money mindset. We need to go deeper than that. We really need to start going deeper than that, and understanding how you can train this muscle, train your brain, your mind for more, what things you can do to actually train the way that your mind thinks, creates, does, so that it can work for you on a bigger scale. And the reason that I think this needs to be spoken about at more depth is because this is exactly the same, exactly the same principle as any other muscle in your body.
If you were to train for a marathon, you would need to commit and put in a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of energy, you would need to have training plans, we would need to go through periods of discomfort, in order for you to get to a point where you can run 26.2 miles and not get injured and feel good at the end and maybe do it in a time that you've set yourself, your brain and your mind is exactly the same as a muscle. So I really want to go through with you today's concepts of how we can actually, what does this mean to train your mind? What does it actually mean? And like I said, at the very start, this is, this goes beyond the things that you might see online.
It goes beyond the idea of, you know, how to not procrastinate and how to be more productive and, you know, feel the fear and do it anyway, jump and the, you know, the net will catch you. There are some fundamental ways that you can start to truly train your mind into different ways of thinking, different concepts, different belief mechanisms that can actually serve you, that can actually enable you to move forward in your life in a way that works for you, in a way that actually provides you with positivity and purpose. And this is key. Every single one of us has different ways of thinking.
Every single one of us has a different mind mechanism. Every single one of us has different experiences, different life. Like every person is different. And this has to be acknowledged when we do things around looking at acknowledging your thought patterns, your decisions, your behaviours, the cycles of doubt that come up, the fear, all of these things.
There is, there is so much that needs to be looked at when you really want to go deeper and start training your brain and your mind for more. And the reason I think this is so important is because when you are thinking about what you're doing, when you are thinking about what you, where you are right now, you know, this idea of building, growing, sailing, wherever you are in your business, this takes such a strong, deep mental capacity for growth, change and expansion. And we have to, we have to identify that. There is no denying how much power there is in your mind, you know, it's 11, 11, in your mind, there is no denying the impact that your thoughts have on your actions, that your actions have on your habits, that your habits then have on the long term thoughts, the long term narratives that play out for you.
And when you think again about these, these layers, your mind creates your identity, your mind creates the perception of who you are, your mind creates how you see yourself in the world, what you are capable of, your mind creates a narrative, an identity, a belonging for yourself, your mind is responsible for creating this. And that isn't always helpful. So if your identity right now and the way that your mind is talking to you is saying things like, I'm always late. I can't see things through.
I just don't know what to do. I've never been organized. I just don't know where to start. I keep putting things off.
I try, but it just doesn't work. Nothing pays off for me. I'm not lucky. Maybe this isn't what I meant to do.
All of these are identity patterns that have formed in your thoughts that have therefore been reinforced in this muscle of the mind. And it's really important that we start doing the work to identify for you what you can be doing to train your mind and really truly go deeper in understanding and identifying why it works for some people and others, why some people create this unbelievable success and others don't, why some people seek insurance, some people don't. Whatever it might be, we need to really start acknowledging and unpacking what this is for you, what this is for you. And it's all well and good.
It is all well and good looking on social media, scrolling carousels, liking some reels. It's all well and good doing that stuff. Like, okay, journal for five minutes a day. Okay, write down what you're grateful for, absolutely.
But if you don't truly believe, and if you don't truly implement and execute in a way that can help you, whatever you are doing, whatever you are scrolling and wherever you are spending your time on the internet is not going to create an impact on your mind. If you don't have that belief system, the reason the belief system is important is because your mind, like I said, infuses to create your identity, to create a synergy in who you are, in how you live, how you sharpen relationships. For example, I'm a people pleaser. So that means that you just advocate yourself, you never think yourself first, you have no boundaries.
But this in our mind is something we can train and retrain. You know, it's exactly the same when you think about any other muscle, any other muscle. And if you enter the doctors and they said, look, we need you to start walking for five minutes every day, because if you don't, eventually your leg muscles are going to deteriorate, right? I'm just kicking them up.
You would find the time to make that happen. So if I said to you now, you need to commit five minutes a day to retraining your mind to focus on what you want, rather than what you don't want. Otherwise, your dreams will never become a reality. Your goals will never be achieved.
Is that enough? Is that enough for you to have that level of commitment for yourself and say, I need to commit to doing this work? And it's a very similar principle. So I'm going to be giving you four things that I really want you to start thinking about when it comes to training your mind for more.
And this is the reason why. So if you watch my stories, if you spend time on my feed, you'll see all of this. But what's really important to understand is your level of exposure to conversation. Now, before I even give you the four strategies, the four things, your level of exposure to conversation is so imperative for how your mind will talk to you and how you will respond.
If the level of conversations that you are surrounding yourself by are focused on problems, restrictions, fear, what isn't working, how other people are living, struggle, lack, problems, challenges, if you are always surrounded by that level of conversation, that is what your mind is exposed to and what you will respond with. And a conversation, the reason it's a sign called a conversation is a two-way dialogue, whether that's with yourself or with others or with one other. So if your mind is having a constant conversation in a dialogue about all of the problems, all of the things have gone wrong, all of the issues, all of the challenges, why we can't do something, why this isn't going to work, why there is fear, why there is doubt, why there is an issue, what do you think your brain is going to then return and respond with? Your brain is going to then see that as the norm.
Your brain is going to see that as something that is what you are surrounded by. So when you are thinking and retraining your mind, there is so much to be said for cultivating conversations of opportunity. And this is massive. So when you are in situations of looking for a coach, looking for a master mind, joining a course, whatever it might be, don't just think about the thing that you are going to gain, like, you know, how many causes it or how many sessions or what are the topics.
Think about the call about a conversation your mind is going to be exposed to. The call about a conversation your mind is going to be absorbing and therefore respond with. If you are surrounded by conversations from others, they're talking about how they can increase and double their monthly revenue, how they can create more profit by the end of the year, how they can have a sold out launch, how they can buy their house outright, how they can pay off their holiday to the Maldives, how they can surprise their child with a car, whatever it might be. If you are exposed to those conversations, what do you think your mind will respond to?
Possibility, change, expansion. And when you first expose your mind to these conversations, of course, of course, there will be an element that could be triggering or, or my shocked. Is this really what, what? And then you start thinking, you know, I don't have these thought this isn't how my mind works.
That is not the case. So if you when you first do come into those conversations and that category of conversation and exposes to you a layer of insecurity or doubt or fear, it's because your mind has never been put in those situations before. So in order for something to be the norm, you have to be exposed to it, see it, sit with it and allow your mind time to collaborate. So really, that's the first thing before I even give you strategies or anything like that, really think about that for yourself.
What caliber of conversation are you surrounding yourself by? If the caliber of conversation is always around the problem and the fear, that is what your mind will respond to. And it's so important that you recognise that. This could be down to what you're watching on the news, what you watch on TV, the music that you're listening to, the podcast, YouTube, whatever, social media accounts.
If you are not surrounded by potential possibility, opportunity, how can your mind create that for you? How can your mind create for you an opportunity to grow? Because it's not being exposed to it. So that's just something to think about when you think about caliber of conversations.
And so often people are influenced and infused and excited by conversation. Let alone what they learn is by other people, what other people share with them, how other people live and respond to their life, how other people act out what is going on in their mind. And when you see other people do it and it works, what then happens in your mind? How did they do it?
You become inquisitive and curious. How could they do it? What's going on there? Do you think I could do that?
What worked? What didn't work? All of this is your mind's way of being able to find possibilities. So when you are exposed to conversations and people that focus on what is possible, your mind is going to start responding from that place.
So let's think about these four things. When you really think about training, your mind for more. So the first thing is there is always an equal opposite. I spoke about this before, but what's really important and this is why this is a mind training is to recognize and identify how your mind, how the thoughts and the narratives are currently playing out could actually be impacting you without you realizing.
So they're impacting the decisions that you do or you don't make, the places that you do or don't go, the people and the plans that you do or don't make, the investments that you do or don't make, the excuses you do or don't listen to. Everything is a byproduct of what you choose to listen to from your mind. This is like the central place of your decision making mechanism. So the first thing is really understanding there is an equal opposite and this can be hard.
This is why it's called training and it's exactly the same like you said in the marathon. You're not going to go out and run 26.2 miles now and be like, yes, it's great. And I've got my business or cramps or legs straight or anything. I'm just going to go and crack it out in sub four hours.
No, it's exactly the same for your brain. So if we're looking at equal opposites, the most important thing is to start giving yourself the opportunity, start giving your mind space, hold space for your brain, hold space for your thoughts to think about what that could be. And like I said, I know that this can be hard, but this is why this is training. In order for you to really start to understand how your mind can really work for you, can actually create something more.
This is way beyond one visualization or meditation or journaling activity. This is a life commitment to your potential. So the equal opposite. So whatever your mind is currently telling you why you can't do something, why this is too hard, whatever is going on, okay, why you're always being late, why clients will never sign with you, why you're not ready, why you don't have enough money, why you need to save more, you need to get more quiet, whatever the situation is right now, what is the exact opposite of that?
Just expose your mind to it. This isn't about transfixing and being like, oh yes, no, no, I'm amazing. I'm cured and I love everything about my life and I've been approved. No, that never happens.
It's about recognizing, okay, what is just expose your mind, expose your thoughts to that concept by me. So whatever you are thinking now, whatever you are thinking about a situation where you can't do something, why there is a problem, why there is a challenge, why something just isn't going the way you want, whatever that thing could be, what is the exact opposite statement to that? That's all I want you to start asking yourself. This is about training your mind to see what's possible.
For example, I'm just not going to sell this launch. I'm not going to sell this launch. I've been a little bit too long ago and I've got no leads and it's just not going to happen. So I'm just going to, I'm just not going to do anymore.
I'm not going to talk about it. I'm just going to forget that I was doing it. I'm going to focus on something else. Okay.
What is the exact opposite of that? I cancel out this launch. Clients are going to come and leads are going to be quiet. It's going to happen.
That's it. That's all I want you to start thinking about giving your brain the space and the capacity to think about what the equal opposite is. Because once you do that, you expose your brain, you expose your mind to other alternatives. And this is why, this is why it's such an art form and especially, especially as a business owner and in the entrepreneurial space.
And especially if you use social media, shaggya, especially if you use social media, your mind, your mind is constantly, constantly being infused with other opinions, concepts, narratives, data, reels, whatever it is, that until you take the time to ask yourself, introspectively, introspection is powerful. What is, what is the equal statement to I'm telling myself, your brain is not going to have exposure to it. And this is about you identifying, about what I said just now, about this idea of the caliber of conversation, identifying how you can expose the muscle of the mind to the positive, to the potential, to the possibility. That exposure is often enough to start making shifts.
That exposure is often enough to just start a new thinking thread. That's always trying to create here a new thinking thread. The second thing is solution-based thinking. Now, you will have probably all heard about confirmation bias.
You can have negativity bias and you can have positivity bias, right? So these exist in everything that we do. They exist in school, they exist in workplaces, they exist in the media, okay? So this isn't a new concept and this is something that we use psychologically with marketing, also with behavior management, with reinforcement, with training animals, whatever it might be.
This is not new, all right? So what I really want you to be thinking about is when you're looking at your own confirmation bias, what is yours naturally programmed towards? The negative or the positive, let me give you an example. If your brain, your mind currently, is automatically programmed to focus on negativity bias, you will always find a problem first.
You will always find a reason that you can't first. You will always find the issue first. And that could be, let's say, for example, I don't have the money right now, then you get your MOT, your car emmity. See?
I don't have the money and now I've got to pay for an MOT. You have to pay for your car emmity every year. This is not a surprise. But in your mind, that negativity confirmation bias tells you, well, that's why you've got the money, now you've got to pay for an MOT.
But we always have to pay for an MOT on car, right? In the UK, an MOT, let's keep on around. Or it could be, for example, I don't have the time and then you have another meeting, put in your diary. See, look, I don't have time and I've got another meeting in the diary.
So we use what's happening around us as a reason to reinforce the problem. That's when you know that you have an integral, negativity confirmation bias. When that's ingrained for you to always say, see, I told you, that's why I can't. I told you, that's why there's a problem.
Then what we need to really do is think about, again, go back to the one I just said, what's the equal opposite? At least we have a car. It's amazing that we have an opportunity for meetings to get put into our diary and for us to put them in there. So how can we start to focus on solution based thinking?
This is when you start to shift your negative confirmation bias to positive. So we start to look for the positive possibility in what's happening. We start to look at the opportunity. And like I said, this can be difficult, but it's about recognizing this is why it's happening.
So when you're in a situation where you know what you want, you know what you want to go, and let's say something happens, you know, I don't know, a potential lead says no. Well, I can't invest in what I want to do now because I was relying on that client to say yes, they've said no, so now it's not going to work. It's going to be forward. I can't invest.
We're just going to say, well, we are that's negative. The positive could be, okay, I know I have a solution to solve this to stop clients, potential clients say no, to be able to handle potential leads, to be able to manage that. I know that I have a potential solution. I need to invest even more so than I did before, so that I can stop this happening and learn how to manage these situations where leads say no, or the businesses are making money or we're not getting results.
So the negative would say, we're not getting the results, and we're not going to invest, we're going to just say suck. See, it's never going to work, the businesses are moving forward. A six months go by, a year goes by, we know for the forward, we still can't invest, the loop continues. Solution based thinking would be right.
This result has been the same or keeps happening. I keep not being able to have enough cash in the business to invest. I keep not having enough movement and momentum. I keep not hitting my results.
I keep not reaching my goals. I keep not signing the clients that I say want to sign, and it's been three, six, nine, twelve months. Maybe I need to find a solution. Maybe that solution is investing, working with someone, getting support, whatever it is.
So you can see the situation, the circumstance hasn't changed, but the way we think about it has. The circumstance has not changed, but the relationship we have with it, how we see it and perceive it has. This is where you can start to train yourself a solution based thinking. Solution based thinking has the power to start shifting you from always focusing on the victim.
Everything is happening against you, and therefore you create more of that mentality. Remember, your mind can only do and create a relationship that you are responding to, because when you respond to it, your mind sees that as something you want to happen. That solution based thinking. The final one I really need to be looking at, and again, you don't necessarily have to do all of these things, but it is important to really think about where you are putting your mind, where are you taking your mind, what conversations people place is.
The third one is about refraining the narrative. This is so powerful when it comes to what you're doing, all of you, because you're putting yourself out there. You're creating a personal brand or a business. You're building an entity.
You're really trying to step away from potentially what everyone else around you in society is doing. You're trying to do something different. This can be really, really hard to do on your own for your mind when you don't have exposure to what other people are doing and how they're doing it. Refraining the narrative is about you starting to think about how your mind sees you.
What identity have you given yourself? We spoke about this at the very start of this. What identity are you giving yourself? What does that look like?
How are you talking about yourself to yourself, for yourself, with yourself? How do you explain yourself to others? What's really important is that you start to recognise that there is a relationship. There is a relationship between your mind and your thoughts to who you are and who you become and the way you then live your life.
They are not separate. The actions that you take are not separate to the thoughts that you have. When you think about refraining the narrative, it's about thinking about do I believe that I can create this next level of success? Do I believe that I'm capable of X-Men Z?
Do I trust myself to do X-Men Z? Do I know that this is what's coming? How do I actually see myself in these situations? What relationship do I have with myself?
The reason this is so important, if I just circle back to the very start when you think about the calibre of conversations, is over the last four weeks I've been having so many incredible conversations with so many of you about the shift, close membership and the mastermind for 2023. Some of those conversations, and of course I can see this because I've been doing this work for myself and with my clients for a long time, but some of the reasons that people are not ready or not moving forward and this is fine, everybody's on their own journey, so much of that is due to a lack of training the mind to really see what's possible. A lack of the agility in mind training to focus on potential, to really focus on identifying where you're going. The reason for that is we can have two ways of thinking, we can have this in-sealer way, very much to hear now the problem, I'm going to tell you a story about that, the problem or the possibility.
There is only so much your mind can do for you before you take action. So if you're constantly in a space of restriction, there's only so many times your mind could provide you with opportunities, provide you with reasons, branches, you know, do this, try this, try that, before you don't act on it, your mind is going to get used to the fact that that doesn't happen. So really start when you, when I'm saying to you about this narrative, thinking about this narrative, it's about understanding how do you see yourself and your patterns of behaviour. Do you go through ideas of, I really want to do this and then you pull back.
Do you say yes and then say no. Do you decide you want something but then think you're not good enough for it. Do you have this constant fear cycle going around them? I know I'm ready for more but what if it doesn't work?
What if it's too much work? What if I'm not ready? What if I'm not brave enough, confident enough, loud enough, fun enough? Whatever thing is, what if it is.
So what then happens is you end up playing out a cycle and a loop between your actions and your thoughts and they almost go against each other. You end up in this like war between what you're thinking and what your brain is like, come on, we can do this versus what you actually do. And this is when you need to reframe the narrative because what's happening is you're in misalignment with the identity that you are creating. Now, at the very start, especially about this, your mind and your thoughts create your identity, create your level of self-awareness.
So the relationship that your mind has versus the actions you take, if you don't act on what your mind is thinking and providing you with opportunities and possibilities, what's happening is you're trying to control your deepest desires by saying not right now fear is controlling it. And this is where we could go down another route between ego and intuition. But the point is, if fear is taking over for you consistently and you are seeing these cycles, ask yourself that, if you're not what you want to be, why is that truly? Why is that truly?
Because are you getting sucked into cycles of what if? Not yet. I want to, but I won't. I'm going to use this as a reason.
I can't. I don't trust myself, whatever it might be. I don't think I'm ready. I don't see myself in this right light.
However, that might look. I just want you to start thinking to yourself and asking yourself these questions, changing the narrative and shifting that narrative is going to shift you into new opportunities. And remember, at the very start, I said to you about this category of conversation, it's not always about the thing that you're in or the title of these amazing modules that you get. It's about the people you are exposed to, their minds, their potential, the way they are acting, the way they see themselves, their identity piece.
This has the power to shift and move you in completely different ways from the mind, from the mind. And if you are willing to give yourself food nourishment for your mind, it's going to be very hard for you to really make these big shifts, for you to really take this forward. So when we think about training your mind for more, these are some of the concepts I really want you to be thinking about, the caliber of conversation, the identity piece, really looking at that for yourself, the equal opposite mentality statement mindset, the solution-based thinking, the positive confirmation bias rather negative, reframing the narrative, reframing your identity, and really just giving yourself that chance to step up for your mind, for your brain. And I've mentioned this, but of course this is a live recording.
I haven't mentioned this very briefly on this training so far, but if you are in a situation where you know that you need accountability, you know that you need support, you know that you want to move your business forward, have a space held for you, move yourself into these spaces consistently, then please please reach out because the shift closed membership only opens once a year. So 12-month closed membership for a maximum of 12 women is available, and there are five spaces left already. I mean, officially starting January, but you have the opportunity to have some extra bonuses, exciting things coming up. You've got a five-day virtual event to kick start in January, you've got a bonus 30-minute one-to-one call that you can take before the end of the year, you've got an extended payment plan, but this is a closed membership.
It's only available once a year. And if you want to have access to those conversations, people, places, support accountability, please please reach out now. Because like I said, there's a lot of opportunities for you. And then outside of that, I'm going to be talking more about my membership, my masterminds, which we launch is, and it's going to be ready for you for 2023 as well.
So ultimately, if you know that you're ready to move yourself forward, take action, shift and move your business forward, create results that you haven't created yet, achieve the goals that you keep not achieving, you know, really step up and challenge yourself, then please just reach out, you can DM me the word shift or the word elevate, and we can have conversations about both of those. But I really hope this is getting some food for thought, and I'm sure I will see you for some more trainings very, very soon. Bye for now.
