Transfiguration - Purify our Hearts desire
from Ruach Breath of Life · host Ruach Breath of Life
Transfiguration - track 5 - Purify our Hearts Desire Harp music from Lauda (Bill Klein) The miracle on the Mount of Transfiguration foreshadows not only the Cross but also the Resurrection itself. For the light of God’s glory to remain in us, we must keep our hearts pure and free from lust and bitterness. Lord, You taught us on another mountain, that the pure in heart are blessed. Purify our heart’s desire, that we may we see and understand Your ways, and overflow with a compassion that mirrors Your own. Help us bite back cutting words before they wreak hurt and havoc in people’s hearts and lives. Help us not to despise or disbelieve someone who is telling me truths beyond our present experience, but to be willing to embrace all that truly comes from You. “You shall not covet your neighbour's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbour's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.” Lord, help us to see each other aright. May we not look on others as objects for our gratification. Keep us from filling our hearts and minds with fantasies that would lead us far astray if we were to act on them – for if the act is wrong, then so, too, must be the intention. Help us to confess our wrong thoughts and deeds to You before we forget or even deny that they are wrong. When our heart strays, and we allow someone or something too prominent a place, we ask for Your forgiveness and offer that person or situation back to You. Expand the flow of Your love within our hearts; make us quick to honour people’s good intentions, and slow to write them off. Set the hearts of Your people free from wounds of rejection and division that they have received. In Jesus’ name we forgive those whose words have shocked and wounded us: Our parents, relatives, children, friends, neighbours, teachers, colleagues, managers and leaders. “We bless and release you from our unforgiveness, and the churches, ministries, institutions and families that you represent.” We ask Your forgiveness, too, Lord, for all that we have done that has crushed or belittled others. Pour out a double blessing on those whom we have hurt and hindered. Where we are nursing hate and prejudice towards particular nations or people, we ask Your richest blessing on them. In the name of the Prince of Peace, Release the power of Your favour on these people.
