Transform Your Story, Transform Your Life

from Wellness Wisdom · host Camille Kennard

Episode #50 Yahoo! Thanks for Listening... Lori J. Lee is the writer and producer of the LOVE YOUR STORY Podcast. According to Lori, "We are born storytellers, it's ingrained in our DNA. It's how we communicate our past, share, teach, and define our world to ourselves and others. The stories we tell ourselves create our realities- they can motivate us, scare us, and help us find joy or sabotage us." Lori gets vulnerable and shares her STORY through 3 divorces- the heart break, disappointment, and pain of life not turning out how she expected. Lori's transformation began when she discovered Emotional Intelligence training to help her tell her story, come to peace with it, re-frame her story, and ultimately go from failure and shame to feeling peace and understanding about her story. Lori says we decide how we tell our story and that we can make meaning and purpose from our stories. Lori shares her 5 Step Process of how to transform your thoughts and re-frame your story. Lori believes that we don't always choose the challenges we have in our lives, but that we can choose our response. Lori shares the process of rewriting your story by accepting your story, claiming the story and saying it aloud, recognizing the lens through which you see the world (perspective), decide what to focus on in your story (tragedy vs accomplishment), and recognizing the meaning and purpose found in your story. What story are you telling yourself? What are your gifts, opportunities, and strengths that come from YOU living and sharing your story?
