Dr. Tavara Johnson interviews Demetra Glover. Demetra was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, and presently resides in Baton Rouge, La. Known as “The Grooming Goddess” to her industry. She is a mother to three beautiful children, educator, coach, mentor, entrepreneur, and a well - known master groomer that has taken the barbering industry by storm. Ms. Glover is a graduate of Southern University A&M Collage with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in early childhood development. Her passion for children and entrepreneur mindset paved the way for her to become a daycare owner and educator for the East Baton Rouge Parish school system for a little over 12 years. The nurturing spirts in her and as a single mother her career path took a turn after investing in a barbershop and now becoming a salon owner.In 2010 Graduating from the Barber Stylist apprenticeship institute of Louisiana and becoming a master barber/groomer and educator for the industry her passion for education has helped her to take the grooming industry to the next level. In 2023 she was awarded as one of The Small Business Administration’s black own businesses for Black History month, recently been named one of the Leading Ladies of Louisiana of 2022, and in 2018 chosen for the Southern University Small Business Development Center’s Wall of Success. Becoming a Barber instructor at Moore career barbering college Demetra’s focus is to bridge the gap in building and cultivating a healthy beauty industry. Understanding the importance of building relationships and networking, the Grooming Goddess has taken many upcoming stylists under her wings through mentoring and the apprenticeship program to help maintain the integrity of the industry. She is the owner of Elevate Grooming Lounge & Spa located in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge LA. With her experience, work ethic and a list of credentials she encourages all beauty professionals to “Respect the process”. Now a contributing author of The RESET Journey…. From Surviving to Thriving Anthology through her test turning into a testimony she can now touch many more lives through her story. “A journey of a million miles, with only one step, begins.
