Transitioning to Summer

from Creating a Satisfying Academic Career with Jo Van Every · host Jo VanEvery, Academic Career Guide

You probably think of the academic year as having 2 seasons: term-time and not-term-time. There is also a weird in between time where you no longer have scheduled teaching but it isn't really not-term-time. That's what I talk about in this track. I wrote and recorded this just before the major pandemic related changes happened in universities in the UK, US, and Canada. I fear it feels a bit dated already. Treat it as a reminder of the fact that things would have been in transition anyway even if you are now coping with much bigger rapid changes to your work and working conditions. I will be writing and recording more specific material over the next few weeks. You might also check out some other things I've written that might help you figure out how to make good use of this in-between time.
