Trapped in Organized Religion | EP44

In this episode I talk about how my faith held me back and yet my faith pulled me through. As a good Christian girl, I felt trapped in organized religion. I was taught to admire and honor the Divine. Worship and adoration were reserved for Divine Authority Figures (i.e. God, Mary, Jesus, Saints, etc…) because they were Divine Holy Beings. I am human. I am not a Divine Being. Therefore, I am separate from God. I am not worthy of the kind of love, adoration, or worship that was reserved for Divine Beings. I was raised in a religion filled with judgment and rules. I was taught to focus on obedience and following the authority of others who knew more than me. I was punished for sinning and was made to feel guilty for being bad and making mistakes. Engaging in self-pleasure was shameful and indulgent. As sinners, we are separate from God and could never be like God.   I have gone through a journey realizing I am Human AND I am Divine. I am not separate from God. God is within me. I am worthy and deserving of the same love and adoration as the Divine. I am the authority and creator of my life. I don’t need to seek love, security, or approval outside myself.  I am my own safety and security.
