This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Author and investigative journalist Rosemary Reynolds and brother of Murdered Police Chief Ralph Painter, Alan Painter. The book "Trapped in the System / Bringing the Killer of Rainier Police Chief Ralph Painter to Justice", uncovers a system that creates victims out of suspects and punishes families that are victims of murderous acts. This story would be less impactful if it was relegated to this one incident. The truth, the justice system we have in place is anything but just. Criminals are given compassion, empathy, and second chances after displaying none of those characteristics to their victims. I don't want to live in a world where the rights of the criminal outweigh the rights of the individuals and families they victimize.
