Trial Begins for Man Accused of Shooting 3 Students | Montpelier News

Jason Eaton’s trial opens today as he faces three counts of second-degree attempted murder for shooting three college students in Burlington last November. The victims—20-year-olds visiting family and wearing Palestinian scarves—were walking together when they were ambushed near North Prospect Street. Authorities initially considered a hate crime connection, given the timing and context of the Gaza conflict. Eaton, who denies all charges, has a history of conspiracy theories and frequent job moves; his mother described him as kind but struggling with depression. If convicted, he could face life in prison or at least 20 years per count. The trial promises to reveal more about that fateful night.
