TRIALS UPON THE GODLY (1 KINGS 17:1-24) Introduction “And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him.” 1 Kings 16:30 God’s people on earth are not always exempted from trials brought about when God judges sin. Elijah is not exempted from the famine and its effects. At times, the Lord in His sovereign providence allows trials to come in torrents. God’s people are preserved according to His sovereign will. Preservation is on the basis of God’s sovereign assignments. Preservation comes through ordinary means in extraordinary ways. Preservation will go as far as the trial demands. Applications Have a spiritual world view of the events of our time. Do not despair in the face of. Do not despise ordinary means used by God.
