This week, Danny is talking about the Triangle Shirtwaist fire. One of the deadliest workplace fires  in US history. A story about the criminal exploitation of Immigrant Labor. Deeply Flawed  Fire Control systems. And employers that put their profits far above worker safety. We begin with garment manufacturing's early history and the  use of  Tenement sweatshops. The early garment industry fed on and took advantage  of a stream of  new immigrants  fleeing Europe in the millions.We talk about the growth of the labor  movement and the Shirtwaist strike of 1909.
