Tribute To Glen Hansard

The music world, and, indeed, Ireland is coming to terms with the death of Glen Hansard.     The 56-year-old singer-songwriter passed away in a crash in Lucan in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.    The frontman of the Frames since the 1990s, the Dublin native also acted in Bafta winning movie "The Commitments" and "Once".     The romantic musical drama earned Hansard an Oscar for the song "Falling Slowly" in 2008. Huge international music stars are among those paying tribute to the Frames frontman, with Bruce Springsteen describing him as 'a generous and gracious man' while Ed Sheeran called him 'an incredible force'.    Taoiseach Micheal Martin described him as a talented musician and actor who made a significant contribution to Ireland's cultural landscape over many years.     Former President Michael D Higgins says Glen was a wonderful musician and performer, a troubadour whose gift for storytelling brought so much joy to audiences across the world.    Joining Alan Morrissey to remember Glen and his immense musical talent was Clare FM's Eoin O'Neill.  Photo (c) Niccolò Caranti
