Trish Greenhalgh | Champion of Social Science and Medicine

Trish Greenhalgh is Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford since 2015, previously at University College London and Queen Mary University of London.Trish is Programme Director for the MSc and DPhil in Translational Health Sciences. She leads a programme of research at the interface between social sciences and medicine. Her past research has covered the adoption and use of new technologies; the evaluation and improvement of clinical services at the primary-secondary care interface, narrative methods to illuminate the illness experience in ‘hard to reach’ groups; the challenges of implementing evidence-based practice; and the application of philosophy to clinical practice.  She is the author of almost 500 peer-reviewed publications and 16 textbooks, and  was awarded the OBE for Services to Medicine by Her Majesty the Queen in 2001, made a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences in 2014, elected an International Fellow of the US Academy of Medicine in 2021, and elected to the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management in 2024.
