Tropic Thunder 2008

Welcome to the Cinema Sitdown!   This week’s pick is from Jerry, and he decided on the 2008 meta-Hollywood-action movie, Tropic Thunder!   Tropic Thunder tells the story of Tugg Speedman, a flailing action movie star finding himself on the wrong side of fame. To regain some of his audience pull after the disaster of his previous movie, Simple Jack, he teams up with some of the biggest stars of the time to create a 60’s war movie sure to bring in the big bucks as well as possible Oscar buzz. Joined by comedian Jeff Portnoy, rapper/pro-capitalist Alpa Chino, newcomer Kevin Sandusky and 5-time Oscar winner, Kirk Lazarus, this wild group of dudes attempt to tell one man’s story of barely making it out of Vietnam and all the lose he endured along the way.
