This week's featured guest is acclaimed essayist Timothy Kreider. Tim writes for the New York Times, The New Yorker, al Jazeera, The Week, the Men's Journal. He is thought of as one of this country's great essayists, compared to David Sedaris and David Foster Wallace. Tim is also an acclaimed cartoonist, best known for his work titled "The Pain... When Will It End?" Simon & Shuster published his first book of essays several years back titled "We Learn Nothing." The reviews were pretty wonderful. Tim just handed Simon & Shuster his second book of essays, a day before our conversation for this episode, due to be released on Valentine's Day. It is titled " I Wrote This Book Because I Love You" and has as its focus the romantic relationships he has experienced over the years. Tim and I discuss being a cartoonist and an essayist. We discuss stories from both of his books, our human struggles, humor, love, the prospect of changing people, the past, present and future, proposing to an Icelandic burlesque dancer, and Bloody Marys. He shares an excerpt of an essay from his forthcoming book. It is a very good conversation... This week's sixty minutes includes an EW Essay titled "The Maze."
