Troy Townsend - Head of Development at Kick It Out

Had an insightful chat with Troy Townsend who is the Head of Development at Kick It Out. During this podcast we spoke about his involvement with the Kick It Out organisation which has come a long way over the years in its attempt to tackle all forms of discrimination. Troy is also involved in many other things such as charity work, being a sports columnist and also has a podcast called The Conve3rsation. Although as a youngster Troy wanted to be a professional footballer he sadly did not make the grade, but it's clear to see that he has drawn on his experiences and expertise to gain a successful career in other fields and is now well regarded within the world of sport. We spoke about Troy's transition from football and how he still sadly experiences racism on a regular basis. It was interesting to here about his experiences; we shared our views and opinions on racism and he had some good advice on how he thinks athletes should prepare for life after sport from a young age.
