Five people were killed and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down Interstate 20 near Terrell on Saturday afternoon, according to Sgt. Kyle Bradford of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The crash occurred after a semi-truck driver, 27-year-old Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni, fell asleep while driving. In other news, capping a tumultuous night, the Republican-controlled Senate advanced President Donald Trump’s package of tax breaks, spending cuts and increased deportation money, with more weekend work ahead as Congress races to meet his Fourth of July deadline for passage; a North Texas high school football coach was arrested this week after he attempted to meet with an investigator posing as a child; and the Dallas Stars are quickly moving on to the next phase of their offseason. After making six NHL draft picks over the weekend, the team is shifting focus to its development camp. The camp is scheduled to take place at Comerica Center in Frisco.
