True Crime Story: The Deputy and the Detonator

In 2007, Duan Yihe, a high-ranking official in Jinan, orchestrated a car bombing to murder his mistress, Liu Haiping, after she threatened to expose their decade-long affair and demanded a one-million-yuan settlement. Assisted by his nephew-in-law, a police officer named Chen Zhi, Duan planted a remote-controlled explosive beneath the victim's car seat and detonated it during the evening rush hour, causing a massive explosion that killed Liu instantly and injured several bystanders. Following a swift investigation, both Duan and Chen were convicted of endangering public safety and bribery, and they were executed by firing squad less than two months after the crime.
