True Crime Story: The Hidden Gun of the Carly Gregg Case

On March 19, 2024, 14-year-old Carly Gregg shot and killed her mother, Ashley Smiley, in their Mississippi home after her mother discovered Carly’s drug use and a secret phone. Following the murder, Carly used her mother's phone to lure her stepfather home and shot him (he survived), and she also invited a school friend over to view her mother's body while showing no apparent remorse. Although the defense argued she was suffering from a mental breakdown and legal insanity, a jury found her guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced her to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
