With DNA evidence and thorough investigation, Reyes was finally apprehended and faces multiple felonies, including sexual assault and first-degree murder. Elena's family, especially her aunt Kate Turville, expresses relief and gratitude for the long-awaited justice, although it comes after Elena's mother's passing.
