True disciples of Jesus love His word and walk in freedom

John 8:30-32 As He spoke these things, many came to believe in Him. So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." The first step of true faith is to become Jesus’ disciple, which means we have an insatiable appetite for His word. We continue in it. It’s our true meat and drink that satisfies our souls like nothing else. The word from the world loses its appeal, and we repent of following the voices of the culture, religious and secular. That was an impossible choice for those who heard Him then. Only the Spirit of God can make a disciple of Christ. May we continue in His word today and forever. Living to love with Jesus (abiding in Him and His word) is walking in the truth that makes us free. It frees us from sin and selfishness, shame, condemnation, and fear. As we continue in His word, we learn this truth: apart from Him, we can do nothing. He is the light and love of our lives.
