True Doctrine And Appropriation
from Pastor Jeffrey Walter Hosted by Christ Academy for All Nations
The average Christian follows Jesus either for material gain or just as a vain religious ritual, but following the Lord this way does not help us become what He wants us to be. In reality, the sole reason for our following after Jesus is for Him to deliver us from our sins (i.e., from the evils in our hearts). In this message, “True Doctrine and Appropriation,” Pastor Andrews Krampah explores how the salvation and grace Jesus offers can only be appropriated (participated in) when we acknowledge that we are sinners and in need of Him. This opens us up to see where we are and where Jesus seeks to take us. Such acknowledgment leads us to turn away from our carnal mindedness to seek the ways of the Lord, so that we can appropriate to ourselves what the Lord has on offer for us. Using the story of Simeon and Anna, he also explains how even in the presence of prevailing misleading doctrines, a proper personal acknowledgement of our need for Jesus will help us seek and identify true doctrine. This acknowledgement will help us make a conscious decision to seek spirituality and strengthen us to break free from the doctrine of men, which does not lead to true inward transformation. Only when our need for Jesus is personally acknowledged can we count the cost of following after Him, and not give up on the way because the journey is difficult. May the Lord help us. Key Scriptures: Luke 5:31-32 KJV [31] And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. [32] I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Romans 8:5-8 KJV [5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Other Scriptures: Luke 5:27-32; Matthew 1:21; John 1:5,11-13; Luke 2:25-38 [All scriptures in KJV]
