True Ghost Stories: A Haunted House Hunt in Texas and Michelle's Own Ghost Story from an Old Lady's Pool House

from Tell Me A Ghost Story · host Michelle Newman - Tell Me A Ghost Story

This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. These calls were later incorporated into a longer compilation episode with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode is another one where I am not just hosting. I am in it. Alexandra from Texas calls in first with a real paranormal encounter that happened while she was simply trying to find somewhere to live. Then I share one of my own true ghost stories from a period of my life that I have not talked about much on the show. Two women. Two properties. Two experiences that made it very clear that the spaces we move through have histories we do not always get to know about in advance.Alexandra went house hunting in Texas and found something she was not looking for. Texas has appeared in this archive more than almost any other state, which makes sense when you consider the depth and violence of its history and the way that history has concentrated in its land and its buildings across centuries. Alexandra was not investigating a famously haunted location or visiting a property with a documented paranormal reputation. She was looking for somewhere to live. What she encountered during that search made her decision considerably easier because whatever was in that house made clear very quickly that it was not interested in new tenants. Then I have to tell you about Carol's pool house. Carol was an elderly woman who rented out the pool house on her property, and I lived in it for a period of time that taught me more about the paranormal than I had bargained for when I signed the lease. A pool house is a specific kind of space. Small. Detached from the main building. With its own atmosphere and its own history that does not always connect in obvious ways to the larger property it belongs to. What was in Carol's pool house with me was aware of me in a way that made the space feel permanently occupied even when I was the only one physically present. This is one of the true ghost stories from my own life that made me understand on a personal level why the callers who come to this show need to tell their stories to someone who will believe them. I believe Alexandra. I believe everyone who has called in. I have my own reasons. Two true ghost stories. One from Alexandra in Texas. One from your host.
