It is important to teach on giving so as not to rob the people of their blessing and abundance. God blessed the believer for certain reasons which are; His assignment and purpose His obligation and responsibilities- 1 Timothy 5:4 His pleasure and enjoyment- 1 Timothy 6:17 It is important for us to realise that giving is a demonstration of trust in God knowing that He is our source. Therefore, when it comes to giving no one is exempted (2 Cor 8:1-7, Mark 12:41) and giving should be done willingly. (2 Cor 8:12). A way to not trust in money is realise that God has made you a channel and do as He leads you to with money- 1 Tim 6:17 Things to know about giving Have a plan for giving Obey the plan regardless of your emotions or circumstances Learn to give regardless of your circumstance Decide what you will give in advance- 1 Cor 16:15 2 Cor 9:1-8- giving is a matter of generosity How we give Generously With love- 2 Cor 8:8 2 Cor 8:11-12- give in proportion to what you have (this is what tithing does) Give with a channel consciousness- 2 Cor 9:8. Thank God because of the grace to support His work when giving. Who/What should we give to and why To God— why? Isa 61:6, Gal 6:6, 2 Cor 9:1-5, Mal 3:9-10 Romans 15:25-29 We give to God through the man of God, the church, the people in the church How do we give to God? Tithe, offering, sacrificial giving Tithe should be a minimum of 10% Our obligations Our parents- why? Eph 6:1-3 Those in need- Prov 19:17
