TRUE GOLD: GIVING

The prosperity in Christ is eternal life, we don’t come to Jesus to make us rich. We are stewards of God’s resources so He can place a demand on them. So as a steward we can’t just do as we like. Money is God’s tool, entrusted to God’s stewards for His plans and purposes. A faithful steward therefore; 1. Trusts God through giving. 2. Gives willingly 3. Plans his giving 4. Gives generously 5. Thinks like a channel 2 Cor 9:10 Reasons why we give 1. God is my source and I am a source 2. I love God, His work and His men 3. I give with a channel consciousness. God can continually bless you for the work He is doing. No one is exempted from giving. Luke 21:1-4 1 Kings 17- when God sent Elijah to the widow it would have looked like the prophet was insensitive but He was after her preservation. 2 Cor 8:1-4- the Macedonians were poor but still give. How do we give? ● We give as instructed by the word of God- 2 Cor 8:1-5, 2 cor 9:1-5 ● We give affectionately (love for God, His work and His servant)- 2 Cor 8:8 ● We give in honour and with honour- 2 Cor 8:3-5 ● We give in proportion to what we have- 2 Cor 8:11-12 The idea of tithe is partnership- Mal 3:10 ● We give with a channel consciousness Who do we give to and why? 1. God meaning the house of God/church/ministry and His man- Mal 3:9-10, 2 Cor 8:3-5, Gal 6:6- give where you are taught not where you are pressured. How do we give to God? Through our tithe/partnership every month, offerings, sacrificial giving. Sacrificial giving circumcises our hearts. We don’t give sacrificially because God is in need. 2. Man: A. Parents- Exo 20:12- it is a way to honour them. Appreciate them and their sacrifices. When you are at home, serve them. Give to them. B. Pastors- Gal 6:6, 1 Tim 5:17. Appreciate their labour with thanks and encouragement. Appreciate their work with your gifts. Give it with honour and be available to serve. C. The poor- there are always people around you that you can help.
