True Greatness (Luke 22:24-30)
from But Servants Hosted by Tim Nicholls
For many Christians there is a great disconnect between belief and behavior. Theology and life. This not a problem with having too much “head knowledge”. It’s just that we haven’t known fully enough. It’s not been so absorbed that it changes our heart. In our passage this morning, we’re forced to re-evaluate true greatness in the light of the cross, not in terms of power, status, influence, success, but sacrificial service. Introduction: Are you living a cross-shaped life? Context 1. The dispute about true greatness (24) 2. The definition of true greatness (25-26) 3. The example of true greatness (27) 4. The reward of true greatness (28-30) 5. Application: Living a cross-shaped life… a. At work b. At home c. At church This sermon was preached at St Mary's Cathedral, KL on 3rd March 2019.
