True Joy

“I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy - Down in My Heart to Stay” is one of my favorite songs. Written by George W. Cooke in 1925, it has been bringing the message of joy to people for the past 100 years. What brings us joy in our elder years? Is it the joy of seeing a friend or family member’s smile, visit, or letter? Is it found by looking at old photographs? Is it the joy of seeing flowers bloom? Or is it the joy of recovering from a fall or an illness? George W. Cooke’s song contains where his joy came from, “I have the Love of Jesus, Love of Jesus – Down in my Heart to Stay.” The love of Jesus — that’s what brings us true joy — at any age!
